CHARACTER
NAME: Lelouch vi Britannia
CANON: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
CANON POINT: R2 Episode 8, after lighting a candle for Euphemia
AGE: 18
BACKGROUND: Lelouch at the Code Geass wiki

PERSONALITY:
As a prince of Britannia, Lelouch has learned at a young age how to act sophisticated and aristocratic. But it is after being sent to Area 11 (Japan) at a young age and having to pretend to be a commoner Britannian that he's developed more of his identity. Growing up, he's become a person driven by his concern and love for his younger sister, Nunnally, as well as his hatred towards his father, Charles vi Britannia, whom he believes cared not for the death of Marianne, Lelouch and Nunnally's mother.

Lelouch is intelligent, calculating, and has a habit for thinking too much. He presents himself as Lelouch Lamperouge, a cool and calm Britannian commoner, while in school. He's very likable by the entire student population, and girls seem to be very open to him with their affections. He's easygoing, friendly, and princely, often making time to spend time with his friends, most of which happen to be in the student council, much like himself. While he's not terribly fond of the shenanigans of Milly, the student council president, he tries his best to adapt and calmly handle situations where Milly calls forth on the entire school to make his life a little more difficult. When it comes to his grades, however, Lelouch does well, but he could definitely be at the top of the entire school if he applied more effort. Most of the things Lelouch does are done with lot of carefreeness, because he's rather disinterested with serious business. He's the type to skip class (especially P.E.!) to leave school and gamble and play chess, because that's much more interesting. Riskier, but interesting!

When with his younger sister (although based on his canonpoint, with his younger brother Rolo), though, he's a lot more caring. He tends to be a bit less serious when it comes to other people, but he loves his family very much. Nunnally is the only blood relative he has, save for his father whom he detests, so Nunnally is put on a pedestal by him and he gives her all the special treatment that she deserves. With Rolo, he's a little less caring in public, but he still plays the loving big brother role with him. In closed quarters, however, he treats Rolo the same way he would one of the Black Knights—an accomplice and a tool in his mission to create a gentler world where he and Nunnally can live in.

Without his Lelouch Lamperouge mask on, however, he's a lot more stoic. Lelouch finds happiness a little trivial, as he can't imagine letting loose and truly being happy where he is and given the situation that his father put him and Nunnally into. Harbouring deep-seated hatred and anger for years and years has made him grow into a spiteful young man, but there are, at least, instances where he shows gentleness and being caring—in fact, these are traits he shows more when he's in the presence of other people. Lelouch is far different when he's by himself, or in the presence of C.C., whom he's able to be open with with all his thoughts, no matter how negative they may be.

The identity of "Zero" is something that he initially carries, but later on defines Zero as the idea of freedom and hope, and eventually becomes an icon. At the beginning, Lelouch created Zero in order to wage war against Britannia—against his own father—merely using the idea of Area Eleven receiving its liberty as a facade. As a terrorist, Zero was more than willing to sacrifice civilians and soldiers alike, no matter which side they may be on. It's Zero's identity becomes more than just one life that he changes his view on certain things such as tactics and strategy—he becomes more idealistic than pragmatic, but both traits still show when it comes to his decision making. While he doesn't show much concern for the personal lives of the Black Knights whom he works with, he does, at least, value their lives more and even commiserate when there's a life to be grieved.

As a terrorist, and as somebody who's lived a lie for most of his life, Lelouch fully understands his actions. At times, the truth may hurt him, such as when Shirley told him that her father had been killed by Zero, or when he had to kill Euphemia after accidentally using his Geass on her. As difficult and painful as it may be to accept the burden of his choices and actions, he accepts it and loses a little bit more of the care he has for himself in exchange. Lelouch may be callous and arrogant, often being insulted when his plans don't happen accordingly, but he has less self-regard now than he did before. To others, Zero may be a symbol of liberation, but to himself, Zero is the cross he has to bear. Lelouch is a sinner—one whose crimes will never be absolved no matter what court judges him—and he fully intends to continue sinning until he accomplishes his goal.

"To defeat evil, I shall become an even greater evil," is a line he says in the series, acknowledging that he will continue to commit crimes and shed blood if it is for the sake of his purpose, and so the blood that's already spilt will not be in vain.

Lelouch wears many masks to constantly shield his true self from the rest of the world. He is, after all, presumed to be dead by the rest of the world after being sent to Japan at a young age. His paranoia, bitterness of the world, and distrust of people empowers him to keep his true self away from others, but as much as he would like to be distant, he's still human. There are still people who enter his life who become so precious to him, and he loves them far too much that he would do anything for them, including sacrifice his own reputation and life for their happiness.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Geass ♟ This is a supernatural ability bestowed upon to Lelouch by C.C.. Lelouch's Geass is "The Power of Absolute Obedience". When Lelouch looks someone in the eye and places a command, the person will be put under a state similar to hypnosis in which they will do whatever they can to fulfill Lelouch's command. Geass is normally an ability that can be controlled, but after using it a little too much, he's lost control of it and is permanently active on his left eye only (based on canonpoint). This ability of Lelouch's has several restrictions, which can be found here.

For the setting of the game, I intend to have a permissions post for characters to opt-in if Lelouch can use their Geass or not. For specific commands, and since Lelouch may only use his Geass on a person once, I intend to plot specifically with the player involved.

Chess ♟ Lelouch is a talented chess player, and could very well be a professional. His record in winning is 8 minutes and 32 seconds, and the only person whom he's unable to beat is one of his older brothers, Schneizel.
